Humboldt Karate Club

Traditional Shotokan Karate

Humboldt Karate Club is open again! We will be starting the season at our new temporary location, Muenster Community Centre, starting Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Strict protocols will be in place. Young students may be accompanied by only one parent or guardian (if desired). All students must have their own water bottle and mask. There will be no change facilities so all students must arrive already wearing their gi. Masks are mandatory for ALL persons in the facility and physical distancing must be practiced at all times. Further instruction will be given as needed. Find registration forms for the 2020-21 season on our Class Info page. See you soon!

Shotokan karate is a system of self-defence which relies on the effective use of the practitioner's body instead of weapons. It is based on using the body as a whole (breathing, muscle contraction and relaxation, body dynamics) rather than relying on arm and leg strength. Through karate training, one can develop self-defence skills as well as self-confidence, stable emotions, and good focus.

We generally train in the gymnasium at Humboldt Public School on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. On occasion when the gymnasium is unavailable, we relocate to other facilities around Humboldt. We are currently training at a temporary facility, Muenster Community Centre, until such time as suitable facilities in Humboldt re-open. Please contact us before planning to try out for the first time.

Humboldt Karate Club welcomes new students at any point in the season. We encourage anyone with an interest in the martial arts to come out for a FREE trial class! Just let us know when you'd like to attend and complete a trial class waiver form. We hope you'll enjoy the class!
